I saw this Spotted Sandpiper on the Great Miami River south of Piqua. What a surprise. They do migrage here over the summer but we don't see them often.

I guess this Blue Jay was tring to blend in or just find something to eat. With those bright colors blending in is not really an option. He was also having a little spat with a pair of woodpeckers.

I was getting a little concerned that we had not seen a Monarch butterfly yet this year. I may have seen one in our yard but was not able to get close enough to confirm it was not a viceroy. This was got me all excited. I love Monarch Butterflies.

When I took this photo I sure didn't recognize this as a Cedar Waxwing .. but as soon as I saw the yellow and red I knew what it was. They are such a unique and beautiful bird.
