This nuthatch clearly decided that the all-you-can-eat seed buffet was officially closed, and it was time to take a leap of faith into the trees for some gourmet bug hunting. Either that, or it was just trying to dramatically exit the conversation.

It was a real treat to spot this Northern Flicker. He seemed perfectly content just relaxing at the top of the tree, perched in that exact same spot for what felt like an eternity.

I guess she was checking me out. Either that, or she was trying to figure out if my camera was actually a weirdly shaped snack. When I asked if she’d ever seen one before, she just laughed—which I’m choosing to interpret as a standing ovation for my photography skills.
