Free Time?

While waiting for the trains to pass, I had a few minutes, and a camera ... so what should I do? Take a photo, of course.

Tracks for miles ... never give up

FullSizeRender.jpg

Sometimes you may feel like there is no end in sight. Maybe it’s a problem at work, a major illness at home, or some other perplexing problem. I love the story of J.K. Rowlings (https://www.themuse.com/advice/9-famous-people-who-will-inspire-you-to-never-give-up):

J.K. Rowling had just gotten a divorce, was on government aid, and could barely afford to feed her baby in 1994, just three years before the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, was published. When she was shopping it out, she was so poor she couldn’t afford a computer or even the cost of photocopying the 90,000-word novel, so she manually typed out each version to send to publishers. It was rejected dozens of times until finally Bloomsbury, a small London publisher, gave it a second chance after the CEO’s eight year-old daughter fell in love with it.

Rejection is difficult .. and sometimes success feels impossible to achieve. Why was J.K. Rowling successful? She didn’t give up. She continued to try again.

Never give up .. that is the message today. Keep working, move forward, taking even the smallest of steps.

More than a train ...

FullSizeRender.jpg

This is one of my favorite photos. Yes, I have lots of favorites, but this came as a surprise. We had to take a detour to get home from church. It was a cool, overcast fall day. I really didn’t feel like stopping for a train, but there it was.

Sometimes a great scene presents itself ... it’s like the universe is trying to share, if you will open your eyes, see it, and capture the moment. There are times when all you can do it take it in, but often the view calls out to be shared with the world. This was one such occasion. I printed this one, and shared it with a special friend at work. This one looks even better in print.

I guess learning to slow down and be more aware of the world around me has always been difficult. I am always so busy, and I often let ‘busyness’ get in the way of a special experience. Slow down and take a deep breath. Take time to see the beauty around you, and when it’s right, capture it. I hope you see the beauty in the train that is on your track!  You will not regret it!
