We were watching a blue jay when this Northern Flicker flew into our view and landed on this tree. I sure loved it.

This is a female Eastern Towhee. I don't get to photograph a female towhee often so this was a surprise. There was two of them so even a bigger surprise.

I have watched this Red-headed Woodpecker and a blue jay doing battle several mornings recently. I didn't realize how feisty they can be about their turf. What a turf war. The woodpecker squawks and dive-bombs the jay .. I guess the jay is a threat to his space. What a bird soap opera.

Check out that stare .. she didn't fly away either. We were in the car and can't usually be those close. Normally where we see them while driving like this the hawk takes off. This one never left.
