This is a photo from the past. Call it a Great Blue Heron Grooming. What a cool bird. I was lucky enough to capture this moment while out on a walk, and it really reminded me of how beautiful nature can be.

We spotted this Green Heron a week or so back in the exact same spot. He dramatically departed, and I honestly didn't expect to see another one this year. Well, surprise! The heron is back and clearly running the place.

This is the other heron that graces our area during the summer. I was beginning to think I wouldn't capture one this year, but then, there she was. What a stunning Green Heron!

I’m not entirely sure what’s happening here, but it looks like a very serious board meeting. The Great Blue Heron is clearly the CEO, standing tall and trying to maintain some semblance of order. Meanwhile, the Canada Geese are the unruly department heads, probably arguing about who gets the last of the breadcrumbs. I just hope they reach a consensus before the heron loses its patience!

Last week, I had the incredible luck of spotting this beautiful Spotted Sandpiper on the Great Miami River. While the lighting didn't quite cooperate to do it justice, I'm still thrilled to share this glimpse of such a fleeting moment.
