A Pair Of Towhees

Teresa took these photos of a male Eastern Towhee this week. There was two of them. They allowed her to get super close. Great photos!

Protecting My Space

I love seeing a Eastern Towhee. I noticed that on their web site, Cornell Labs describes them as a large sparrow. I guess I can see that but I have never seen a sparrow as protective of their space as the male towhee.

Like I Was Saying …

This was funny .. we were hiking and not seeing any birds. I told teresa that I thought many birds were already migrating south. In fact, I specifically mentioend not seeing any more Eastern Towhees until next spring. Withing minutes we see two Eastern Towhees, a male and a female. I only got a photo of the male.

My Turf

I guess I called out this Eastern Towhee .. he flew around us, then landed in a small tree near where we were hiking. He sure was checking us out. I guess we were in his turf.
