Give Me My Pole

When I arrived at Garbry Big Woods Sanctuary one day this week I saw nature at work. There was a red-winged blackbird perched on this pole. Just above him this Tree Swallow was hovering. I could not hear what was happening, but I am sure there was some squawking. The red-winged flew away and the swallow took his place. It was cool.

Meow

I almost missed this Gray Catbird. I have heard a few of them but this one was not making much noise. Meow.

Perched Old Man

This Great Blue Heron was in a tree overlooking one of the ponds at Garbry Big Woods. We watched him land in this tree, then move to another tree .. and then fly away. Teresa saw him eating someing right after landing so I guess it was dine in.

I sure did not expect to see this Silver-Spotted Skipper. We were hiking near the stillwater river when we saw this butterfly. What a wondeful surprise.
