Isn’t She Lovely

I saw this female Northern Cardinal near the Great Miami River one day this past week. There was several males too, but as hard as I tried, I could not capture a photo of any of them.

She Is Unique

We have seen a few more female Red-winged Blackbirds this week. This is one of the more interesting and detailed photos I have taken of a female red-wing. While the females do not have the bright colors of the males, they certainly have some unique markings.

Sapsucker

Based on what I can see, I believe this is a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker .. even if you can't see the yellow. I took a few photos, but I was not able to capture a photo of the belly region. This is one cool bird.

Dark-Eyed

We have not seen many Dark-eyed Juncos this year. For some reason they all showed up one day this week. I took the first photo but I could not get him to turn around. As soon as I had he did, I could not get a focus .. they he flew awaay. Lucky for me, Teresa was able to capture the photo of his profile.
