It's Mr Ugly in a tree ... and on the ground. I love the photo in the tree. I would add 'cute', but he really is ugly.

I have photogrqaphed a Hummingbird Clearwing in the past. I find them so interesting that I can't pass on an opportunity to photograph one. This one was so large that I got some detph of field across it's body. Such an intereting moth.

Teresa and I took a few photso of these a couple immature Bald Eagle this week at Grand Lake St. Marys. In the past I have refered to all bald eagles under the age of four as Juvenile, but this article to clarify the distinction between Juvenile & Immature Bald Eagles. Have a read .. it's excellent.

I could listen to this Song Sparrow all day. I guess I should have capture an audio recording too. A photo is great but in this case there is just something missing without the beautiful sounds. 😱

I have been trying a different app on my iPhone to help me identify brids by their call. I can usually pick out a bird when I am taking a photo, but sometiems I can't. It's more interesting to identify them by sound since you most often hear them even before you can locate the bird. The app is called Merlin Bird ID (by Cornell Lab). Its free to download. I don't think I have ever been asked to pay for the large libraries either. I may have paid at some time it the past.
