I have said it before .. I get so excited when I capture a good photo of a sparrow. So plain, with little color, yet so amazing. Simple yet so very cool.

I think the squirrel population has grown significantly this spring. We have seen so many young squirrels. I saw two run into a nest in a tree while hiking, then about 10 feet up the trail, we saw this one hiding in a log. Cute.

I saw this female Northern Cardinal near the Great Miami River one day this past week. There was several males too, but as hard as I tried, I could not capture a photo of any of them.

In past years we have seen Great Blue Herons at this spot (at Big Woods) frequently. It has been a long time since the saw one here. It was great to see. She clearly owns this spot.
