A Friendly Butterfly

It was less than a year ago when Teresa photographed a Hackberry Emperor on my arm. He followed me and was my best friend for a while. (you can read that post from last August here: A New Friend).

On a hike this week the tables reveresed. We saw several Hackberry Emperor butterflies near the Stillwater River. Teresa is much sweeter than I am, and this one was all over her arm, legs, and even pants. It was certainly a friendly butterfly.

Those Wings

We are starting to see a lot of Dragon flies. This one is a female Eastern Pondhawk. It is also refered to as a Common Pondhawk. Yes, it is a skimmer.

I love the details in their wings. It is long enough that some blur was created in the tail. I should have caught that before I snappped the photo.

Must Be Comfy

We we driving to the exit at Garbry Big Woods Reserve. Frankly, it was a slow day for photography. I don't know how Teresa saw her, but she did. I stopped the car. We captured a few photos but she never moved. We were not really close, but I expected her to bolt. After a few photos, we left .. she stayed put. It must have been super comfortable.

Take Time To Stop And Look Around

On a recent hike, this tree caught my eye, but it was nothing special, but then I looked up. Sometimes we get too busy or just don't stop to look around. Perhaps you need to just look up. It would have been easy to have missed the beauty created by the canopy and the sky. I find that if I slow down I will usually see something that blows my mind.
