Waxwing

I photogrpahed this Cedar Waxwing a couple weeks ago. It was the second one of the year.

The butterflies are starting to become very active now. Tha that is a fun time for us, but the Cicadas are driving me nuts. On a recent hike they were so loud it as crazy. And they are EVERWHERE. I guess I was not hiking as much 17 years ago.

Let’s Chat

This beautiful song bird is a Yellow-breasted Chat. I have photograped them before, but almost all of those photos were taken at Stillwater Prairie Reserve . This one was no exception. We were hiking at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. Such a beautiful bird!!

Welcome Home

We are back in Ohio and went for a hike as soon as we could. We were greated by a number of Viceroy Butterflies. It was so wonderrful to see them. It was the first we have seen this season.

I have addresssed the confusion between the Viceroy and the Monarch in the past so I am not going to go there today. Click here to see that post.

Keep Trying

We took a couple mile walk on the beach Thursday morning. The sunrise was amazing (last photo below). I got all excited when I saw this Snowy Egret land near us. All I had with me was my iPhone, but that did not stop me. I walked in his direction, snapping photos as I approached him. When he took off, I followed. I finaly called it and finished our hike. Keep in mind, none of these photos of this bird are up to my normal standard. It was just too far away. But hey, I love to share.

Our room was on the 12th floor, facing the beach. We had not been in our rom long when I saw this Snowy Egret land on the beach below. Yes, I had my big camera with me, so I started snapping photos. They did not come out perfect, but here they are.

Never give up on that special photo .. it may not be perfect, but th journey is worth it. Enjoy .. I did.

Clouds, Rainbow and Footprints

We had the opportunity to spend some time at Myrtle Beach this week. I shot these photos while walking on the beach on this cloudy morning. I love how they turned out. I plan to get a print of the last one. It was my favorte photo of the week. I may print that on glass and hang it.
