Never Give Up

I have seen several Northern Flickers recently, but missed so many photo opportunities. This photo is not perfect, but I love this species. What a gorgeous bird.

This particular photo was taken from the Shook Walkway Bridge over the Miami River. I saw him flying over the river, but lost him in the trees. I never give up that easy ... so I walked back toward the tree where I last saw him and there he was.

Butterfly Time

DSC_5850.jpeg

Pardon my excitement, but I am so pumped. We have seen a couple butterflies on the warmer days, but this time I was able to capture a photograph. It’s a Cabbage White Butterfly. You know the weather is heading in the right direction when you see butterflies. 🦋🦋

Solitude

A couple beautiful photo of a Canada Goose. This was one of three in this pond on this day. The other two appeared to be ‘a couple’, but this one was alone.

There is something to be said for time in solitude. Perhaps she is making conversation with her reflection. We do not find much solitude these days. We are always ‘plugged in’ to our gadgets. We need more of what this goose seems to be enjoying. Some down time with our thoughts .. in solitude.

Building A Home?

This is a female Red-winged Blackbird. I have been trying to get a photo of one since we first saw one this spring. They are nesting!

Fight, Fight …

DSC_5733.jpeg

It was a peaceful afternoon .. a few ducks and these two geese were enjoying a nice day on the pond.

DSC_0009.jpeg

While we were taking photos of this pair and the ducks that were also swimming nearby we heard incoming geese ..

DSC_0010.jpeg

They quickly landed, but not far from our peaceful pair.

DSC_5736.jpeg

Our pair did not seem to take this well .. darn intruders.

DSC_5751.jpeg

The response? They quickly flew over to make it known that this was not acceptable. A few quick snaps to make it clear that this will not stand.

The spat did not last long. After a few minutes, peace was restored. Nature can be like politics .. I wonder ..

Teresa shot the photos of the geese landing on the pond. I took the other photos. It was on the cooler side outdoors, but the sun made it a nice day for hiking.
