What an odd place to see a Tundra Swan. There was actually three of them in the middle of this field .. now water, just these three swans. I am sure they stopped on a long flight north.

It was great to see these Blue-winged Teals in the pond at big woods this week.
So, where is the blue? It shows up when they are flying.

This is a Gadwall duck. Sadly it was super cloudy and the lack of sun resulted in this photos lack of detail. This duck is actually very interesting to see but to get that you need to click the link above. Maybe I'll get another chance later this year.

What an interesting photo. When I shot this photo of this Great Blue Heron I was not able to see his head but the reflection was great. Super cool.

Last week we saw the male Hooded Merganser in the small creek near this pond. Today he was hanging out with his date in the pond. It is spring, so perhaps they are nesting nearby .. or just on a hot date.
