Cool Nymph

This is a Common Wood-nymph. It seems late in the season to see them, but we saw a large number of them while hiking this past week. I think they are a very cool looking butterfly.

Teresa took the 2nd photo .. what a great photo!

A Pearl In The Grass

We have started to see a few Pearl Crescent Butterflies recently. They are small and easy to miss, but they have such beautiful colors. One of natures real beauties.

Hackberry

This is a hackberry Emperor Butterfly. We are not seeing as many butterflies as normal. I sure was great to see this one. We really should be in peak butterfly time.

The Monarchs Have Arrived

The Monarch Butterflies have arriverd in Ohio. Well, at least this is the 1st one I have seen and photographed this year. I am really excited by this. More on that later.

Some Cabbage?

Its that time of year when you see those small, white butterflies in your back yard .. never stopping, but fluttering around. This is the Cabbage White or Cabbage butterfly. You don't see the detail when you see them flying, but this one stoppped long enough for me to get a good photo.
