Flicker and Owls

FullSizeRender.jpg

I took this photo of this Northern Flicker several weeks ago as she groomed near the Miami River. I focused on her for a long time, hoping to get a photo when she took a break, but she ignored me.

Last night we took a hike looking for owls. We managed to see one Eastern screech Owl, and hear at least one more. We believe we also heard a fox or two. It was a cold night. I will see if any of our pictures or video are any good later. Interesting experience. It always is.

Teresa took this photo at at Eastwood MetroPark. It was a warm fall day, and the ducks and waterfowl were very active. Most of the people there were fishing .. we were photographing. Life is good!

Just before I saw this Red-bellied Woodpecker, I saw a couple Hairy Woodpeckers. Wait, maybe that was a pair of Downy Woodpeckers. Sadly, I didn’t get a photo, and I may never know.

A cold morning hike

FullSizeRender.jpg

Teresa and I took an early morning hike at Maple Ridge Reserve. It was cold, but the sky was clear and the air was crisp. We managed to see several deer and a few woodpeckers. We made this video of our hike:

Pileated what?

FullSizeRender.jpg

We saw this Pileated Woodpecker last week on the same day that we saw so many other woodpeckers. I had a hard time getting a good photo because of where he was hiding. Truly one of the most amazing woodpeckers, mostly because of his crown.
