Hawk Watching

You don't see this every day. As we pulled into Garby Big Woods, I immediately spotted a Red-shouldered Hawk perched gracefully on one of the birdhouses. She was just relaxing there, taking in the surroundings. After I snapped a couple of photos, she glided over to another birdhouse near the treeline. She paused there for a moment, allowing me to capture a few more shots before she finally flew off. What an incredible experience!

Did You Bring Lunch

Teresa and I hiked at Stillwater Prairie Reserve one day this week. We were not having much success but as we neared one of the fishing ponds, we heard the call of a Red-shouldered Hawk. We looked around for some time, but could not locate her. As we resumed our hike, beautiful Red-shouldered Hawk flew overhead and begin circling. Maybe she thought we brought lunch. I took a few photos, but she flew away soon after.

Looking Around

It has been a while since I photograpned a Red-shouldered Hawk. I loove how he looked back at my direction without moving his body.
