I was surprised to see this White-crowned Sparrow this past week. Totally caught me by surprise.

These photos were taken at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. The bridge crosses over the river with Maple Ridge on the other side of the birdge. I love the shot of the bridge, but that second photo is from the bridge looking to the south. The river was like glass. So beautiful.

This was a great day to hike. The temperatrue was only in the 50s but the sky was blue and clear .. and the goldfinch were so active. They would fly to the nearby trees, then back to the open fields of wild floweres. These two were kind enough to give me time to get this photo. Most of them were not stop long enough for me to take a picture.

Well its the second week of October and temperatures are much lower .. but we are still seeing butterflies. We saw this Monarch Butterfly on October 10. That is nuts. It was sunny but temp was around 50°F. Amazing.
Others have told me on Facebook that they are seeeing them too .. I know this will come to an end, but it is sure fun for now.
