A Little Blue, Little Grey ..

This is not my best photo but this Blue-gray Gnatcatcher was constantly on the move.

Did I say little? They run about 10–13 cm (3.9–5.1 in) in length, 6.3 in (16 cm) in wingspan,[2] and weighing only 5–7 g (0.18–0.25 oz) (wikipedia). Most of that length seems to be in the tail:).

Chat or Parula

I was really excited to see this Yellow-breasted Chat. I was looking for a Northern Parula. I have been hearing them for a few days and when I saw this chat, I thought I had finally found one. I am still very happy to have seen the chat, but I am still looking for a Parula. 🤣

Indigo ..

Last year it seemed to be much later in the spring when we saw our first Indigo Bunting. This year we have been photographing them for the last 10 to 14 days. We saw these two while hiking this week. Yes, this is one of my favorite birds. I guess I say that all the time .. 'my favorite bird.' I just love the beauty of the Indigo Bunting.

Nature Photography And Baseball?

Nature photography is kind of like baseball: Sometimes you get a single, once in a while you get extra bases … and then on rare occasions you hit a home run. Sadly, some hikes are just a strike out. This day was a great hiking day.
