You Interrupted My Lunch

We were visiting family when I spotted this female on the feeder on their deck. You know me: I grapped my camera and went to work. She flew to a nearby tree and then ... I missed the shot. I was so frustrated. A hour or so later, it played out again but this time I captured this photo. Beautiful.

Looking Chipper

I believe this is a Chipping Sparrow. They are a little larger than some of the sparrows I often photograph.

I guess its about breeding season:

The male chipping sparrows start arriving at the breeding grounds from March (in more southern areas, such as Texas) to mid-May (in southern Alberta and northern Ontario). The female arrives one to two weeks later, and the male starts singing soon after to find and court a mate. After pair formation, nesting begins (within about two weeks of the female's arrival). Overall, the breeding season is from March till about August.

Love is in the air. ❤️

Didn’t Expect This Today

I think this is the first time I have photographed a Ring-necked Pheasant. Years ago I would see them when hunting, but it has been a long time. This was another one of those cases when we were driving down the road and I saw him off the road about 25 feet behind a few trees. I had Teresa turn around so I could try to capture a few photos. He didn't move far when we stopped .. beautiful.

Let There Be Ice

The ice arrived overnight so we took a drive around the county and shot a few photos. Some of these were shot by Teresa and some by me.

Lots Of Water

After the rain and melting snow, the water was really flowing at Charleston Falls Preserve. I shot these photos on Tuesday (2/23/22). It was cold out, but certainly a great day to hike.
