Hummingbirds

We were out early one morning this week. The birds were extremely active and I was in my element. I was pleasantly surprised to see this Ruby-throated Hummingbird. What a treat. We do not see them often, but this one was just a few feet away from me. So cool.

The funny thing: the next two days, we saw more hummingbirds. Both of these days we saw them at diffferent locations. One was along the Miami River. We tried, but we didn't get photos.

Pearls

This happened at about the same time every summer. We start to see fewer birds and an increase in the number of butterflies we photograph. This week it was a large population of Pearl Crescent butterflies. Beautiful small butterfly!

Skimming!

I am still capturing photos of Widow Skimmers. I am seeing less of them, but when I see one, they seem to attract my lens.

Vireo

This bird looks a little larger than I expect but I think it's a Warbling Vireo. I photograhed it at Grand Lake St Marys. We played a game of hide-and-seek for a while, but I finally captured this photo.

A First

This was a surprise. I saw this Black-and-white Warbler while hiking at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. I have never photographed one before so this was super exciting. Cool.
