It's Mr Ugly in a tree ... and on the ground. I love the photo in the tree. I would add 'cute', but he really is ugly.

I could listen to this Song Sparrow all day. I guess I should have capture an audio recording too. A photo is great but in this case there is just something missing without the beautiful sounds. 😱

I have been trying a different app on my iPhone to help me identify brids by their call. I can usually pick out a bird when I am taking a photo, but sometiems I can't. It's more interesting to identify them by sound since you most often hear them even before you can locate the bird. The app is called Merlin Bird ID (by Cornell Lab). Its free to download. I don't think I have ever been asked to pay for the large libraries either. I may have paid at some time it the past.

Yes, he's back. The reality is I was the one that was back. It seems that this Eastern Towhee resides at the Rangeline Road access entrance to the Stillwater Prairie Reserve. Now he seems to follow us around. Cute.
