I enjoyed watching this Downy Woodpecker. She started jumping between branches making a photo nearly impossible. She finally landed on this branch. I shot this photo as she was hiking up the tree.

Teresa and I took a hike at Caesar Creek Gorge State Nature Preserve this week. It was a great hike, but the dense and lush green cover mask the wildlife. We did manage to see a few birds, but was not successul at capturing many photos. I did get this beautiful landsape shot of the Little Miami River.
As we hiked we surprised this wild turkey and her two chicks. What a shock. I think she was far more scared than anything. We snapped a few photos, but tried to give her space to protect her chicks.

I love the colors of the Blue Jay . I saw this one on a recent hike. I guess he was shy and would not look my way. I'll just call him a shy jay. I guess that name does not fit with the behaviors of any blue jay, but it fit this one.

We saw another Brown Thrasher this week. I spotted her initally in the tree (in the second photo). Unfortunately, the photo is fuzzy. I was really having problems getting a good focus. She helped me out by flying to the tree in the first photo. That is a beautiful photo. I guess I just needed to wait for her to get ready to have her photo taken.

This beautiful song bird is a Yellow-breasted Chat. I have photograped them before, but almost all of those photos were taken at Stillwater Prairie Reserve . This one was no exception. We were hiking at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. Such a beautiful bird!!
