The Blue Jay

The Blue Jay: Yes, they are loud and obnoxious but they are really beautiful. This one was not in good lighting, but so beautiful. I guess I already said that .. have a good day.

Try That Again

A couple of days ago I mentioned that I missed a photo of a Red-tailed Hawk. We drove by that same wooded area this week and she was in the tree again. I took a different approach this time. Without getting too long on this, lets just say I drove by and stopped up the road then walked back. It worked. I saw a second one too, but didn't get that photo.

Tree Fun

The Pileated Woodpecker is one of my favorites. I don't see them often, but the are so cool. This one was so engaged with this tree that he really didn't notice me taking photos. Teresa spoted him before I did .. I guess she heard him then saw him. Very cool!

Young Eagle

We visited Garby Big Woods yesterday. We didn't see much, but on the way home we saw a beautiful Red-tailed Hawk. Sadly, we were not able to capture a photo.

As we crossed a bridge over the Miami River Teresa saw and captured a photo of this Bald Eagle perched over the river. I think this one recently molted. It must be about 4 years old so it will be looking for a mate sometime over the next year. How exciting.
