Black-throated .. Green .. What?

We have been hiking along the Miami River between Troy and Piqua extra this week. The birds are arriving in large numbers. I missed the first shot I took of this beautiful guy but the second came out great. I posted them in reverse order.

It’s Been A While

It has been a while since we photographed a Northern Flicker. It was a fun hike and so many birds. I was really excited about this photo. Sadly, the lighting was not good for a couple of the photos. Love this Flicker.

I tried …

Yes, I tried. It was the first Baltimore Oriole we have seen this season. I followed him from tree to tree, but he avoided my camera succesfully for what seemed like an hour. This photo was the only one I managed to capture. It will not be the last Oriole we see this year, but it is a first.

More Spring Flowers

I wanted to share a few more photos that Teresa took this past week. The wild flowers have been so beautiful. This is Mothers Day, and Teresa loves flowers .. She is also an amazing mother, wife and my best friend. Happy Mothers Day, Teresa.

Happy Mothers Day to all mothers including my Mom, and all mothers to-be. A special hug to those that struggle and for whatever reason cannot be mothers.

Lunch Hunt

We were just making our way along this trail near the Stillwater river when we saw this Broad-winged Hawk in a nearby tree. She was just eyeballing us as we walked by. I think she was 35 feet away. As we contined she did finally fly a little away, but it was great to see this beautiful raptor.
