Downy

It was tough getting a good photo of this Downy Woodpecker. Teresa captured the best photo (1st shot), and mine was the second. They are not perfect, but it was good to see this guy.

It is always interesting to me that we see more woodpeckers in December - March than any time of the year. Maybe it is just that the leaves don't hide them in the winter.

A look back … On A River

We are not hiking outdoors as much and that means we are taking fewer photos. The weather has been crazy. It has been cold again and we are walking at the local mall to get in our steps. I guess I could photograph the people, but I would look funny doing that.

These river photos are from this past summer. They are photos I have not shared, but that I really love. I am attraced to water I guess.

Stay warm!!

Don’t Mind The Temperature

We finally were able to get out and take a few bird photos. As it turns out, this American Tree Sparrow was happy to allow me to photograph her. It was about 20F out but she did not seem to mind.

Take The Shot

We were hiking (in the mud) when I saw a bird land in a tree some distance away. I thougth to myself, 'this is a long shot, but maybe .. ". I zoomed as much as possible and shot this photo.

I guess I was surprised at how well it came out. Not my best photo, but not bad all things considered. Sometimes you just take the shot .. you never succeed if you don't take the shot.

Have a good day and take the shot.

And Then Ice …

The pond was super muddy looking, but there was no ice on this day. Since then the temperatures have dropped so there may be some ice when we go back. It is that time of year.
