A Surprised Blue

FullSizeRender.jpg

We surprised this Great Blue Heron .. and more than once. She would fly a short distance, then land. We were not trying to freak her out, but it seemed to happen several times.

I took this photo along the Miami River, near Twin Arches Reserve. We saw a lot of bird activity there yesterday. Some that I could not locate to get a photo, and some that I could. I am hoping to see a lot more soon!

Hold Still, Please

FullSizeRender.jpg

The weather this past weekend was great. It did rain Sunday evening, but we were able to get out and take a walk at Stillwater Prairie Reserve before the rain started to fall.

I saw this White-breasted Nuthatch combing the tree for a snack. It’s hard to capture this guy because he would not stop long enough for a photo. I did manage this shot. Nature is amazing.

Greenville Creek

This is Greenville Creek. It sure looks like a river at this point. Just south of this location, it is a beautiful falls. I was testing the limits here. The wind was really strong, and I was nervous about flying the drone. It all worked out.

Mr and Mrs Mallard

FullSizeRender.jpg

I have seen this scene play out several times this week .. Spring is in the air. These two Mallards will certainly have some young Mallards this spring. Mallards are Monogamous. Bring on the warmer weather, and some green.

Top of the Day, and the Tree

FullSizeRender.jpg

Teresa and I took a hike yesterday and ended up stopping several places. I took the photo above at Ft Blankenship Riverside Sanctuary. This was a difficult photo. I had to do a lot of work to manually focus due to the tree limbs that were in the way. You can’t even see them in the image. I was very pleased with the photo.

We created this video of our hike. Enjoy:
