Well, this is different. We were hiking early this week and I almost stepped on the first snake. It was cooler outdoors and he was not moving much. By the time we came to the second snake, it was warmer and he was very active and fast. Good photo Teresa:)

On several hikes this year we have seen snakes. I do not recall a year in which we have seen so many, not that it means anything.

This Black Rat Snake is certainly a cool dude, if you are into snakes.

Something Different

I thought I wouild post something a little different today. We have seen four snakes on our last two hikes at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. I captured the first photo. This was the largest of the four snakes. Teresa took the second photo of the smallest snake we saw on these two hikes. Smaller, but much faster snake.

Just a harmless snake

I have heard them called garter snakes, garden snakes, gardener snakes, and recently ribbon snakes. Harmless, but can surprise the unexpecting. I took this photo years ago on a walk through Garbry Big Woods.
