Hiding Away

Sometimes I think birds really think they can't be seen. In some place the trees are bear and they just can't hide. It is that time of year.

Most Common?

I don't have a log of how many of each bird I have photographed over the last 6 years, but I think the most common woodpecker has to be the Downy Woodpecker. I see them frequently, year around.

White-crowned Sparrow

I was surprised to see this White-crowned Sparrow this past week. Totally caught me by surprise.

Yes, Two

This was a great day to hike. The temperatrue was only in the 50s but the sky was blue and clear .. and the goldfinch were so active. They would fly to the nearby trees, then back to the open fields of wild floweres. These two were kind enough to give me time to get this photo. Most of them were not stop long enough for me to take a picture.

All Alone

We are enjoying the cooler hiking weather. This bird was all alone on the top of this dead tree. It really captures this time of year in a picture.
