Looking Chipper

I believe this is a Chipping Sparrow. They are a little larger than some of the sparrows I often photograph.

I guess its about breeding season:

The male chipping sparrows start arriving at the breeding grounds from March (in more southern areas, such as Texas) to mid-May (in southern Alberta and northern Ontario). The female arrives one to two weeks later, and the male starts singing soon after to find and court a mate. After pair formation, nesting begins (within about two weeks of the female's arrival). Overall, the breeding season is from March till about August.

Love is in the air. ❤️

Didn’t Expect This Today

I think this is the first time I have photographed a Ring-necked Pheasant. Years ago I would see them when hunting, but it has been a long time. This was another one of those cases when we were driving down the road and I saw him off the road about 25 feet behind a few trees. I had Teresa turn around so I could try to capture a few photos. He didn't move far when we stopped .. beautiful.

A Cute Couple

I was hiking at Garbry Big Woods when I saw thse two Downy Woodpecker climbing in a nearby tree. It caught my eye because the male and female were both there together. When I shot the photo, I thought I was only getting a shot of the male, but as it turns out, she was in the background. Very cool.

They Are Back

Spring is on the way .. and this beautiful Red-winged Blackbird was telling me all about it. I could hear what sounded like many more of them but this is the only photo I captured. I also saw a female nearby but the photo is not great (adding it below).
