Looking At You

I really enjoyed photographing this Blue Jay. He was eating these berries and having a good time. In that top photo he seemed to be looking at me. That was cute.

A Creeper

This was a first. We were hiking at Charleston Falls Preserve one day last week. I thought I saw a woodpecker but after a closer look I quickly realized it wasn't. What I photographed was a Brown Creeper.

The creepers behavior is descried on Wikipedia, which really was visible when we saw this cool bird:

Brown creepers forage on tree trunks and branches, typically spiraling upwards from the bottom of a tree trunk, and then flying down to the bottom of another tree. They creep slowly with their body flattened against the bark, probing with their beak for insects. They will rarely feed on the ground. They mainly eat small arthropods found in the bark, but sometimes they will eat seeds in winter.

Very cool bird and thankful to see one on this warmer December day.

I’m Only Here For The Feast

We don't see Black Vultures this far north very often. It happens, but just not that often. On this day, they found a deer off the side of the road and they were there in numbers. Kind of look like Mr Ugly (Turkey Vulture).

Please Take My Photo

I love photographing woodpeckers. One of the most common woodpeckers around here is the Red-bellied Woodpecker. This one was in a tree right off the hiking trail. I love these photos. I could hear him asking me to take his photo🤯.

More Blue

I shared the photo of the female a couple days ago. Today I wanted to share these photos of the male Eastern Bluebird. The blue is beautiful. I think we are going to head back to this site later this week and see if they are still there. I kind of doubt it, but we will see.
