One Loud Jay

Maybe you have noticed but Blue Jays can be very loud and sometimes obnoxious. On this particular day, we hiked for over 2.5 miles. During the hike I could hear this loud jay but I could not find him. Finally, I spotted him in a tree, but he would not hold still long enough for me to focus and snap a photo.

Northern Flicker

This is a Northern Flicker. Its a male. Several of them were in the grass along the hiking trail at Stillwater Prairie Reserve earlier this week. It’s been a while since I have seen a Flicker. They are such a cool bird.

Please Take My Picture

We saw this Red-bellied Woodpecker near the Stillwater River yesterday. The birds were very active, and I guess he wanted his photo taken. I was happy to take care of that.
