I thought we had seen our last Killdeer of the season when two of them showed up this week .. for a day. I guess it was a food stop on the journey south.

We see killdeer almost every day. They are usually along the side of the road or walking on the road near Garbry Big Woods Reserve. I was not expecting to see them near the fishing pond at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. I guess the reserve was not a surprise but at the pond did surprise me.

I have been trying to capture a photo of a Killdeer for weeks. I see them along the road side every day but they just don't want to be photographed. Those legs .. haha. He needs to stop skippig leg day in the gym.

We have watched the same four Killdeer for about a week. The nesting season is over so I guess they are just hanging out .. winging it.

We have seen many Killdeer over the past month, but this is the first time I have been able to get a decent photograph. We were stopping by Garbry Big Woods Sanctuary to drop off some bird seed. As we turned into the parking lot, there was two Killdeer walking around .. so I shot this photo.
