The same American Kestrel was at in his favorite spot again. This time I got a ptoto of him making a fast exit. Look at those talons. Small, but a bird of prey on the hunt.

I have been trying to capture a photo of this American Kestrel for weeks. He keeps showing up on the wires near Big Woods .. and when we get close, he takes off. This is the best shot so far. I will keep trying.

I have been trying to photograpy this American Kestrel for weeks. I see him every time we go to Big Woods but can never get close. This week I stopped in the middle of the road to get this shot. I had to do it from a distance but it is not bad. I yealled, "Gotcha" and felt instant satisfaction.

This is an American Kestrel. For some reason I struggle capturing good photos of this spoecies of bird. This is not a bad photo, but the focus was just not perfect. Of course, I saw him when I was driving down a coutry road and I stopped for the photo. I guess it works.

A day after I photographed that American Kestrel we saw this one. I think it was the same bird, just a mile from where we saw him a day earlier.
In the top photos he was hovering as he scouted for prey. After a period of time, he would move to another location and then hover again. This went on and on for what seemed like an eternity. It was cool to watch and even mroe fun to shot these photos.
