The lighting and shadows really did not help with this photo. I believe this is a Double-crested Cormorant. Most of their body is underwater so it's really a difficult one for me.

This is a very small butterfly. It is a Gram Blue. It reminds me of anotehr small butterfly that we have photographed many times: the Azure. Such a beautiful butterfly.

It had been a few weeks since either of us has photographed an American Goldfinch. That is sad .. so I'll make it right with these two captures from last week.

Bridge With A View

This bridge is new this year. It connects Stillwater Prairie Reserve to Maple Ridge Reserve. We love to hike at both of them, so this is extra special to us.

The top two photos were taken from the bridge. It tends to sway easily so I had to hold still while it stopped moving. I guess the optical Stabilization in the iPhone helped too. I love the reflection of the trees in the river.

One morning this past week we were hiking early. The temperature was lower than it has been, but it was crisp and beautiful. As we appproached the banks of the Stillwater River, we saw a large numbrer of Cedar Waxwings having a feeding fest on the bugs. I shot these photos. I love this species.
