Where Is The Eagle?

Sometimes photos come to you, then other times you have to go find the photo. These Bald Eagle were a little of both.

One day this past weeknd, we were hiking at Grand Lake St. Marys. Teresa saw an Adult Bald Eagle land in a tree south of our location. There was some water and distance between us and the tree. We both tried to locate her using our cameras to zoom and search in the trees. The photo is what we were looking at. The red circle was our search area focus. The light through the trees fooled me. In reality, looking at the photos after returning home, I think she was in the green circle.

While hiking that direction suddenly there was two large Bald Eagles flying in the sky above us. I guess they saw us coming and took to the sky. I only manged to photograph one of them, but captured a few photos of that one.

Eastern Bluebird .. Finally

We have not seen a Eastern Bluebird since early spring. Actually, we saw a few last week, but neither of us capture 'good' photo. I shot one photo, but it was really bad so I hit delete.

I love this photo .. but I guess I love all bird photos.

Hiding In The Rocks

We were hiking at Grand Lake St. Marys this past weekend. It was not typical of what we experince there. We saw very little wildlife. We did manage to capture a few photos of an eagle flying near us .. that is always cool.

I totally missed this rabbit. I guess if felt hiding in these rocks would be safe. As is often the case, Teresa saw something I missed. Great capture Teresa!

Rain, Rain …

It was a cool morning, and this Red-winged Blackbird was getting wet (actually, we were wet too). A popup rain shower caught us on our hike at the momment I shot this photo. We found a place where we could get cover from the rain, but the birds just continue their hunt for food.

A Flying Carnivore

Check out this cool looking Widow Skimmer. They are one of the group of dragonflies, also known as King Skimmers (Wikipedia).

I love this photo for other reasons too. This guy is having lunch. It looks like a fly but it certainly is an insect. I guess like me, he is a carnovore, or at leat protein based. Part of the circle of life.
