I’m not sure why I was compelled to capture those photos, but I love it. I took these photos on two different days in two different locations. One near the Miami River, the other near the Stillwater River. Just something fun.

Lunch?

Adjustments.jpeg

This woodpecker seemed to have found his spot. He would stick his head into that pocket in the tree, perhaps there is water in there and he was getting a drink, or eat a few bugs. After a short time, he would pull back out, look around, and then repeat the process.

Alvin, Simon Or Theodore?

Adjustments.jpeg

It has been a while since I captured a good photograph of a chipmunk. I think this is Theodore. I call him by name, but he did not respond. Yes, I tried Alvin, Simon and then Theodore. Maybe it was the wrong chipmunk family.

This is a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. I think this is the first time I have photographed a Yellow-billed Cuckoo.

This bird feeds mainly on hairy caterpillars and cicadas. Sounds so yummy. I mean, they eat other incects as well as bird eggs, snails, and small vertebrates (frogs and lizards). They do consume some berries as well. Interesting diet.

Catching Flys

This flycatcher is called an Eastern Wood-Pewee. It is a small flycatcher with a grey-olive upper-part and pale gray underpart. Any bird that can catch a fly is a cool, fast bird.
