I’m Watching You

This is a Field Sparrow. I usually see Tree or Song Sparrows. When a Song Sparrow is threaten, they retreat to the cover of foliage. A Field Sparrrow behaves differently ... they head to the trees or a location where they can see the threat. This sparrow displayed that behavior. I have captured photos of Song Sparrows but the behavior is different. Once they recognize my presence, they take cover. How cool.

Finding Peace

It is hard to believe it is June already. As we were hiking yesterday, I was reflecting on the last few months. Think about it: a global pandemic and the collapse of economies, then social unrest, riots and blazing cities. We have witnessed the closing of schools, the cancellation of ‘everything’, jobs lost, businesses closed, many lives lost and / or disrupted ... life in 2020 is anything but normal.

This picture represents my view on life. Find a place where you can be at peace .. go there, and enjoy time alone or with someone you care about. No virus, no riots .. just peace in nature. Do it today!

‘My Nut’

The squirrels have been very active. I took these photos on different days, but near the same spot. These little creatures are cute for sure! I can hear the 1st one saying, “This is my nut”. HAHA

In The Shadows

Teresa capture this photo. I didn’t crop the shot because I think the entire photo is powerful. I love the cardinal, but the suns rays in the shadows of the tree make this a great photo.

Eastern Kingbird

This is a flycatcher. More specifically, it is an Eastern Kingbird. The white tip on the tale is one of the key ways to identify this bird. There was two of them in this tree, but this was the best photograph.

This bird is fearless. I have read stories of them attacking much larger birds to defend their nest.
