This is a Painted Lady Butterfly. I tried to get a photo with her wings open but she did not work with me on that. They are so beautiful ... and one of my favorites (arn't they all).

Have you every watched a Monarch Butterfly as they fly across the horizon? They are never in a hurry as they 'float' along. Clearly they need to be busy since the season is short, but they keep their presepctive.
In contrast, if you watch a Viceroy Butterfly, they seem to fly much faster with what looks like more intent.
It is interesting to compare the two. Just an observation .. maybe it means more, but it is certainly interesting to watch them both and contrast their flying styles. (The one in the photo is a Monarch).
