Yes, Again

I know I recently posted a American Goldfinch photo, but they continue to find my camera .. and they are so beautiful.

Hummmmm

A few days ago I was talking to a friend and mentioned that we had not seen any hummingbirds this year. A couple days later, as we were leaving home, and as I locked the door I noticed something very large colorful right by my head. I am talking inches from my eyes. It didn't stick around long but the sound was unmistakenly that of a hummingbird. It did not register right away, but Teresa was a few steps ahead of me and was able to see it bettter. It was so close .. I think it was about to try and get some nectar, perhaps from my ears. I was wearing a red shirt, so maybe the color attracted her.

This week we went to Cox Arboretum to hike with some members of our family. We love spending time with grandchildren and doing it in nature is a win-win. We saw a few butterflies, birds, and turtles. As we were leaving, Teresa captured this photo of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird. I didn't have my cameral at that time so I missed it again. I guess I am suppose to be near them, but not photograph one this year. Next time!!!

Wood What?

It took several attempts before I captured these photos. This is a Wood Thrush. I think it is the 1st time I have photographed one.

We spotted her abot 20 to 30 feet in front of us on the hiking trail. As quickly as I could raise my camera, she took off. The good news is she seemed to be following the same trail but we could not confirm it yet .. she rounded the corner.

This little dance continued for a while. After a few times she flew into a tree and I captured the second photo. The lighting was interesting but I had a photo. When she took off, she went back to the hiking trail where I captured the top photo.

What a cool bird.

TheAmerican Goldfinch is so beautiful. We saw several of them this past weekend. Most of them were males, like the one in this photograph. Have a great day.
