That’s Not A Turkey

DSC_2917.jpeg

Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, we visited with our youngest son and his family. Their home is located near the Little Miami River. The bird life in the trees behind their home was very active. You know me ... my camera was in the car and I could not pass this up.

I was really surprised to see this American Goldfinch . I was worried that I may not get the the shot with all the activity, I captured this photo … its not a turkey 🤣.

I am so thankful for nature and her beauty.

This Red-bellied Woodpecker put on a show for us. He danced his way up and down this tree. He would make his way to the back side of the branch, then around to the front. Upside down, then right-side up. I totally enjoyed watching him hunt bugs while disregarding our cameras.

Make Some Noise

You never know where you are going to find birds hanging out. We had hiked about 2 miles. We had only seen a single bird, but had not taken any bird photos. Suddenly, there were birds all around us. Frankly, I was not successful at capturing photos of all of them, but we did get a few good photos.

I enjoyed watching this male Downy Woodpecker. I guess he was making some noise in the top photo.

So Many Woodpeckers

This time of year we see a lot of woodpeckers. That is partially due to the bare trees, but they are also very active right now. Maybe they are bulking up for winter?

It was a cold day, but as we hiked we saw these two Eastern Bluebirds. It was like seeing an old friend .. exciting and heart warming. They are both females and we did not see the guys anywhere.
