In The Dark

public.jpeg

This photo is entirely to dark, but that is what I l Iike about it. This is a American Robin. A very common bird. He was hidden away in the trees, and I was behind him, where I took this photo. I could edit it to add brightness and more exposure, but the light makes it more mysterious. I really do like it.

Thinking About Moving

public.jpeg

The finch were very active this week. We are coming into migration season before too long. In fact, some birds start preparing to migrate in July. In September you will see a lot more activity as migration moves into full swing. Get those cameras ready.

A Cardinal Squat

And then he was gone. This squatting motion did not last long, but it preceded a quick takeoff. It’s still a beautiful Northern Cardinal.

Back to Finch Watching

public.jpeg

I saw this little guy just over my head while hiking. He did not stick around long, but as you can see, it was long enough for me to capture a photo.

There is something very cool about a Goldfinch. It’s that combination of colors, their energy, and very interesting flight path. They are a fun bird to watch.

A Different Kind of Deer

public.jpeg

Teresa caught this photo of a This Killdeer this week. I have seen a few of them, but have not been able to get a decent photo. This was a tough shoot, but she was able to capture a couple of photos.I love the depth of field with the blue water of the pond in the background.

Have you ever seen a killdeer use it’s defense of playing like it is injured? It’s something to see. I saw one do it last fall. It’s interesting.
