Yes, its a cardinal .. I never get tried of photographing cardinals. They are such a beautiful bird. We saw him first under this tree, then we saw him on a picnic table. I guess he didn’t want to leave us alone.

Not so Green?

public.jpeg

I photographed two young Green Herons while we were hiking along the Miami River this past week. This one was very distracted by the ducks that were nearby. Perhaps he’s not so green, but it is a Green Heron:). They call his upper parts a gray-green. Go figure.

Just Chatting

DSC_0112.jpeg

I have not seen a Yellow-breasted Chat for a year. Teresa shot this photo on the banks of the Colorado River. The second bird … well, I will have to get back to you on that.

Savannah Sparrow

FullSizeRender.jpg

This is a Savannah Sparrow. They are very common, and are identified by the coloring and patterns in their heads. It was windy, but she was willing to allow us to take a photo.

Fooled Me This Time

FullSizeRender.jpg

This one fooled me. It’s a brown-headed cowbird. I can usually pick them out. But I usually see males. This is a female. They don’t have the black body that the male has. I think this is only the second photo I have taken of a female brown-headed cowbird.
