Count Those Birds

These guys always fly in large flocks. I was too far way to identify them, but they were certainly there in numbers.

Hanging Around

FullSizeRender.jpg

I have seen so many woodpeckers over the last month. They are very active right now. The cold temperatures don’t seem to bother them. This is a Red-bellied woodpecker, getting a snack. They seem to love this bird feeder. ❤️

I’m Back

It has been a while since I saw a Great Blue Heron around here. Teresa and I were hiking along the Miami River yesterday when I spotted this one flying over the river. He landed just down-river from where we were standing. These birds generally migrate, but a few of them will stick around for winter. Since I have not seen one for a couple months, I assume this one may have flew south, but not far, and had come back early. I could be wrong. It was exciting to see him (or her).

Bird in Paradise

This photo goes back many years .. I mean over 15 years. I took this photo during a stay at Grand Cayman Island. The beach at Grand Cayman are amazing, and the water so blue. We have often talked about going back, but getting there is not as easy as it should be. I didn’t get as much of the color as I would like in this photo. I had an old camera that just didn’t get the type of photos I am able to capture today. It’s still a fun photo.

Where Have You Been

FullSizeRender.jpg

We have seen a lot of male cardinals over the last 4 to 5 weeks, but I have not seen many females. The few I have seen have been impossible to photograph. I finally saw a couple and was able to capture this photograph. It was about 25ºF, and Teresa and I were both in the car. We had to stop ... and she didn’t take off. This was a special photo. Maybe she knew it.
