The day we saw this Silver-spotted Skipper was amazing .. I lost count of how many butterflies we saw. This Silver-spotted Skipper was in perfect lighting .. beautiful.

This is a Short-tailed blue butterfly. The color is super interesting .. a blue butterfly with those small orange markings. They are very small and easy to miss.

This is another skiipper .. a Smaller Dartlet. I don't believe we have ever seen one of these before. I guess I know for sure I have never photographed one.

Check out this Giant Swallowtail. It certainly stands out. From the link above:
"Average Wingspan: Males range from 15-19 cm (5.8-7.4 in), and females from 14-18 cm (5.5-6.9 in), underscoring their status as North America’s largest butterflies."
That is a small bird. Wow.

Near the end of our butterfly walk this week, we saw several Kingfishers near the fishing pond at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. They normally nest in the banks of rivers, but given the high water levels, perhaps they were hanging out at the pond.
They were very loud. Perhaps we annoyed them. I guess I can understand.
