I was super excited to see this Belted Kingfisher but the photo didn't turn out to be great. I hope I get to see another one soon. We have not seen many this year.

I was totally surprised to see this Belted Kingfisher this week. It is a male. They are a samller bird and I almost missed him. He didn't stick around long, but I was sure happy to see him.

This is a male Belted Kingfisher. We have seen a few this summer but we have not been able to capture a photo. I mean, not even a bad photo. Teresa saw this one flying near the pond at Big Woods. I spotted him in a tree that extends over the pond. I am so grateful for this photo. What a cool dude.

My friend the Belted Kingfisher was back this week. He was flying between trees but staying very close to the pond. Highly motivated to find food and his mate.
