Different Day, Different Tree, Same Hawk?

The red-tailed hawk couple are still hanging around near where we hike at Big Woods. I love this photo. It was not great lighting, but what a beautiful bird.

Hey, Duck!

We have seen a few Mallards lately. This couple must have been on a date. It was early on a winter morning .. kind of cold out, but there they were.

Post Card

This is the Stillwater River but taken much further south then where we normally hike. If the sky was clear it whould be a perfect postcard photo, but it was very cloudy. I still love the photo.

Goose Meeting

I just posted two of these photos .. the geese are out in large groups. The top photo was on the Miami River in Piqua. The second photo was taken at one of the ponds at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. The water sure looked cold, but it did not stop them from jumping in. ~ Rick

Sparrow In The House

I am farily certain this is a House Sparrow. A little known fact:

House Sparrows aren’t related to other North American sparrows, and they’re differently shaped. House Sparrows are chunkier, fuller in the chest, with a larger, rounded head, shorter tail, and stouter bill than most American sparrows. (All About Birds).

Enjoy your day, and stay warm!
