I had to post this photo of this Great Blue Heron. It so much better than the photo posted recently. This one was not flying nearly as fast, and it was an open lake, so I was able to track and capture a better shot. Love the details!

A Surprise Blue Heron

We were hiking along the Miami River late last week when I saw this beautiful Great Blue Heron flying away. It was a surprise .. I certainly didn’t see her much in advance, but there she was, flying over this small pond. I was going to crop if tighter, but I think this adds more perspective. She is so beautiful and grateful.

It’s Lost ..

No, these are not headless mallards. It must be really interesting down there. Maybe they are just taking a nap? We saw three young ducks just a few feet to the south.

High Speed Goose

There was two of them, but they were flying very fast and I only managed this one photo. I am not sure I have ever seen geese fly this fast. Fun photograph.

Standing His Ground

Like most geese, this dude was not going to move. We were just walking by, and he wanted to defend his space. I didn’t see anything that he would be protecting, other than his space. So, we did our best to respect him, and move on. :)
