Close to home?

I capture this photo of a Tufted Titmouse while we were hiking earlier this week. This bird is very integrating. They tend to live their entire life in a very small geographic area, and they do not migrate. I saw one about 8 weeks ago in very cold weather. That is nuts.

Nature .. yes, always interesting.

Bug Hunting

FullSizeRender.jpg

We saw this Downey Woodpecker earlier this week while hiking Maple Ridge. She was dancing her way up and down the trees, looking for bugs to eat. It was cute.

It Was a Long Flight

FullSizeRender.jpg

This is an Eastern Phoebe. They are a small flycatcher. We saw several of them while hiking at Maple Woods, but this is the best photo I was able to capture.

They migrate from the ohio valley, all the way to the Gulf coasts. This bird had a long trip.

Caught!

FullSizeRender.jpg

This is a new feeder that the Ranger recently installed. This one was relocated this spring. They must have just used a new piece of wood for the stand, but used the same structure. This squirrel was making off with all of the remaining grains, nuts and whatever else was in the bird feed.

Green, and More Green

FullSizeRender.jpg

Mother Nature has been busy. Look at all the green. A few of the slow blooming, larger trees are still half bare, but it’s looking great.
