The Steller Jay

It was difficult to confirm this, but I believe this is a Steller Jay. They are the only new world Jay to use mud to build their nest. I really didn’t think I captured the photo. I saw him take off, and just started snapping photos. I found this in my pictures when I got back to our cabin.

A Giants’ playground

FullSizeRender.jpg

The volume and velocity of the water from Bridialvale Falls is amazing, and the sound is overpowering. A photo really does not do it justice. The above photo was a time lapse shot, taken with my iPhone. The second photo is a black and white of the scene. Look at the all the dead timbers. It looks like a ‘Tonka Toy’ playground ... for giants. (I used Snapseed to create the B&W effect).

Deer crossing

FullSizeRender.jpg

On a beautiful Monday morning Teresa and I took a hike through our little corner of Yosmite. After about 3.5 miles, we were disappointed that we had not seen any wildlife. We called it a day, and spent the balance of the afternoon relaxing.

Later that afternoon, we decided to take a short drive to explorer the beauty of Yosemite. As we drove toward our temporary home, we came to the point where the trail we had walked earlier in the day crossed the road. There is a deer crossing sign, and just past the sign, we saw these four deer.

If you were a deer, you could not ask for a better place to have lunch.

Many Moons

FullSizeRender.jpg

I took a series of photos of the moon early Monday morning. The pre-dawn photo above was taken on my iPhone. I was out for a walk, trying to get in some exercise.  When I looked up, this was the view.

I used Halide, a photo app. It allows manual settings, and I think it gave me the best photo possible on a mobile device. (Disclosure: affiliate link to a really great app).

The next two photos were taken after an early breakfast 🙂. I used my DSLR and a 600mm lens for both of these photos. The sun rise was behind me and behind the mountains. A blue sky and a full moon at Yosemite National Park. I guess the exposure settings were slightly different for these two photos.

How tall?

Earlier this week, I posted a photo of someone walking the trails at Yosemite. This is something fun I created while hiking the same trail. Yosemite National Park in the Spring of 2018.

I created this using the Apple Clips App😬. (Affiliate link). It is really easy to use to make some of the coolest little videos.
